Resident Testimonial

“Why did I choose River Ridge Care Centre?

My husband died in 2009, and our pussy cat, ‘Cindy’, died a few months later. I am now living alone in a three bedroom home in Medicine Hat.

When “Masterpiece” newly opened, my husband and I came for a tour with Susie, that is quite a long time ago. We liked what we saw and gave us thought, for our future.

I have a daughter in England, with a bad prognosis. I felt I should move to England. Before going to England, I came to River Ridge (skill as Master Piece as a volunteer). I loved everything about it.

The staff and residents. I am into Arts & Crafts as well as a retired therapist, and soon found my way with a Friday knitting group, plus teaching paintings on silk. I did this for 3 years, and loved every bit. I did go to England and said goodbye to everyone here. Susie said, “if you ever choose to come back, there will always be a suite waiting for you.”

I in-fact returned five years later, and within two weeks was very happily settled. While I was away the ownership of our building changed hands. I am so happy that I did not mind as staff remained, and the lovely feeling is still the same.
I truly have not been bothered with the years and a half of being “shut down”. I dislike the word. Activities closed down, but I was given a little area of the activity room to continue my love of painting and crafts, so I was never bored and was kept busy.

I feel so fortunate to be here at River Ridge, it is my home now.”
